CAD Drafter I

-I translate engineering drawings into a basic CAD system.

-Jobs are put into the system when drawn and updated after the work is done in the field, and can include anything from running new cables, changing cable attributes, or adding terminals.

-I routinely exceed the expected rate of two prints an hour (including work and QAQC reports)

 

Charlotte Fire Department

March 2012-December 2013

GIS Analyst

-I maintained the street centerline that is used by both the Fire Department and the Police Department, and worked with Medics, Firefighters, and the County’s GIS department to try and get the street network as close to real life as possible, including updating construction projects in real time

- Worked with the firefighters to create various maps, including maps to learn streets for a new station, detailed apartment complex maps, golf course and bike trail maps, as well as making the dispatch maps match the real roads and various IT issues

-Updated the street network to our dispatch system, with different mapping products going to the dispatcher computers and the Fire trucks, as well as, being on call to support the dispatch center

-Created maps for Emergency Management for Uptown Events (including extraordinary events such as the DNC and Monday Night Football)

-I created maps and did analysis upon request for the Fire Chiefs for various things: from presentations before the City Council to routes to best get batteries for CO2 and smoke detectors to homebound residents, and response time and coverage maps

Research Assistant

-Map production, including for in-department reference and thematic maps from collected data

-Collected and organized available ESRI Shapefiles for the Charlotte Metropolitan Area

-Research for community organizations including Goodwill, The Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, the Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency, and the Mecklenburg Citizens for Public Education
